Wedge Foam Cushions |
This cushion is designed with a "wedge shape", higher at the front and lower
at the back. Wedge shape helps to keep those who tend to slide out of their
wheelchairs in place comfortably. Stretchable, waterproof cover material
reduces skin shear and seating pressure. Strong, heavy gauge nylon bottom
cushion fabric extends the life of the cushion .Rounded bottom overcomes

When one sits on a wheelchair cushion it is always appropriate to keep in
mind that the height of the cushion itself will change due to compression
from body weight. Therefore, a 3" cushion is likely to compress to approximately
2" depending on the weight of the user. You want to ensure that you have
enough height to accommodate such change so that the cushion does not bottom
out. Wheelchair seat upholstery also tends to say and a curved bottom on
a wheelchair cushion will take up the slack and provide lateral pelvic stability
so that proper seating is achieved. This also helps to eliminate the problem
of sliding. This cushion is designed with a "wedge shape", higher at the

Foam and Gel Cushions |
Most gel pads used in wheelchair cushions are manufactured so that the gel is in a single pouch. The problem with this is that when you sit on this type of cushion the gel migrates away from body pressure sites where you need it most. In order to provide pressure relief one most continuously knead the gel back into place...only to have it migrate again! This becomes an endless annoyance to the user/caregiver. To solve this problem we designed our unique four chamber gel pad. The gel stays where you need it to provide necessary pressure relief and no longer will kneading be required! Unique "no-knead" four chamber gel pad keeps gel where you need it!
