Coccyx Cut-Out Cushion

The Coccyx or "tailbone" area is prone to skin breakdown and, therefore, one needs added pressure relief at this site. The problem is that the edge of the cutout itself can become a cause for increased skin shear and this results in dynamically higher pressures which negate the effect of the cutout. Because we have covered our Coccyx Cutout Cushion with a "Comfort" top foam, we effectively reduce both the shear and the pressure at the edge of the cutout so that tissue can more readily heal. Special dual foam layers, one for support and one to eliminate the shearing effect in the cutout area. Comfort foam layer reduces pressure at the edges of the coccyx cutout .Contributes to neutral sitting position and helps to reduce poor posture positioning. Rounded bottom overcomes wheelchair sling seat to provide lateral pelvic stability. Stretchable, waterproof cover material reduces skin shear and seating pressure. Strong, heavy gauge nylon bottom cushion fabric extends the life of the cushion Adjustable belt and buckle fasten cushion securely to chair.
